Blackjack is the most popular casino card game because it is easy to learn and fun to play. The aim of blackjack is simple – all you need to do is reach 21 or a score higher than the dealer without exceeding 21 and going bust.
This means that while lady luck plays a role in blackjack there is also some skill and judgement involved in beating the house.
The concept of blackjack is simple, after being dealt two cards, each player has the choice to hit, split, double or stand. If you hit, you will be dealt another card and if you stand you won’t get any more cards. If you choose to double, your bet will be doubled but you will still only receive one more card.
If you are dealt two cards of the same value, you can choose to split your cards into two hands by placing an additional wager and then continue playing with both hands until you stand, beat the dealer or bust. Playing blackjack is as easy as that!
Roulette – The wheel of chance
While blackjack involves some degree of skill and judgement, roulette is a game of pure chance. There is no strategy, no master plan, no hidden secret to winning, just luck.
If you have spent any time in a casino you will be familiar with this popular casino game but what you might not know is that the name means little wheel in French.
The wheel has alternating red and black pockets that are numbered from one to thirty-six. In European Roulette, there is also one pocket that is green, and it is marked 0, while in American Roulette there is a second green pocket and it is marked 00.
hen playing roulette, you have numerous betting options, you can bet on a single number, a range of numbers, the colour red or black, odds or evens, and high numbers or low numbers.
Interestingly, the total of all the roulette numbers adds up to 666. In 1873 a Yorkshireman named Joseph Jagger set out to prove that roulette was not purely a game of chance and hired people to secretly record the spins at a casino in Monte Carlo. He discovered that one wheel favoured certain numbers, and this knowledge enabled him to win a fortune.
Play responsibly and stay in the game Gambling can be a fun pastime, but it is important to play responsibly and never bet more than you can comfortably afford to lose.
Drinking excessively while gambling is not a good idea as alcohol can make you reckless and cloud your judgement. And when you gamble, never forget that the previous number has no bearing on future numbers.
